Dallas 2012 - Soap Trailer

American Soap Opera - Reaserch

Shooting Shots - Prelimary task

HERE ARE SOME OF THE EXTERNAL SHOTS WE TOOK SHOWING HOW WE WORKED WHILST ON SET.

Sophie & Georgia - Soap Ancillary

EVALUATION:

Firstly, what i think went well when creating the soap ancillary is the soundtrack. I think that it fitted well and built up tension towards the end scene. Apart from that i am not to keen on the soap ancillary however i found it extreamly usefull to do the ancillary as now i know where i can improve for my final peice.

I think that the title cards look very unprofessional and i know they wouldnt be used in industry. The way that one word is split up and has a large gap in the middle prooves that it looks cheap and unrealistic therefore when i come to make my final soap i will ensure that the title cards i use look professional and dont split up words.

Secondly i dont think we gained very many realistic shots. When looking through existing soap trailers to learn and gain knowledge from them they have many over the shoulder shots and extream close ups to show characters emotion. Looking through all of our filming none of the footage really contained shots that i would like to see in my final peice therefore when i come to make my final trailer i will plan alot better and ensure i film scenes numerous times untill i am happy with the shots.

Brand identity

After looking through the EastEnders brand identity it has come to my attention that when I come to create my soap opera trailer I need to think carefully about what impression we are imposing on the audience. The location and the channel it is broadcasted on needs to be taken into account and also the soundtrack which is played in the background as this impacts how the characters are being portrayed to the audience allowing them to gain emotions towards them i.e. empathise.

The Cut - TV Guide

For a preliminary task we had to create a stop motion for the programme ‘the cut’ featured on BBC2. After creating the stop motion I then decided to create a TV guide which was focused around the programme in order to get ideas and inspiration for my ancillaries for my final product. Here you can see it meets the stereotypical conventions of a TV guide and includes other features from different shows around the same genre.
